nah i can't with this paint...and it has been clear...its a clear over base...and you have to do it while the paint underneath is still wet...:S

but seriously all painting is like 90% prep work...and i wish i could have spend another 2 months on the bay but i couldn't...

the outside will look much much much much better

Huh? I'm assuming you've used acrylic: let it go off over 24-48hrs, wash it with fresh water, hit it with G10 compound, wash it with fresh water again, and then wax coat it, all before it goes too hard and you can't penetrate the surface layer/s... What you say above makes no sense ?! It makes no difference whether you have clear and a base or not. The only difference really is that a well-sprayed acrylic clear barely needs any compounding whatsoever.

Edit: I don't agree too much with the old "prep is everything" wives tale either: you can do months of prep, but if you don't mix the paint properly or spray with a poor technique, the outcome is still **** (been there done that as I learnt the ropes!)

sorry let me explain a little bit clearer! the man at paint shop told me "DO NOT BUFF this paint!" because it has a pearl in it i will not be able to reproduce the same effect on the rest of the car. yes its acrylic lacquer.

it really could have been prepped heaps better...

i sprayed it very well i'm really used to the gun now. i know how to get it on very glossy with out any runs. i'm good at the mix and got it perfect i think...

but i guess i could buff the clear but i can't really be bothered and i'm on a time frame. have to have the car on the road by the 8th of september :|

i didn't say prep is everything either...but if you want a mirror finish you definitely need to prep it very well.

and i'm not doubting your skill one bit...if it was a solid colour i would definitely buff it

Awesome job!!! Can't believe how quick you're going. Ever thought of doing the brake linkage upgrade whilst you have the engine out and have easy access to all those pivot points?

    Cheers

    thanks guys

i was thinking about the brake linkage upgrade but i really really need to get it all finished so i guess it will have to be done later

"A team" can help for shizzle...but no spanish fly music...PLEASE!

all i need for the engine to go back in is a good engine mount...the engine mount i have (on the pully side) is buggered...so i took it down to volkspower to get changed yesterday but deano was out so i guess i will have to get it done after work today (hoping he will still be there when i finish).
