yeh it definately is a 30mm nut, i would try very hard not to strip it because it should be torqued to 180 foot pounds and will be a real pain to get off if it's munted. check the quality of your 30mm socket, maybe the teeth on it are worn? And if you do use any air tools, it is ideal to use an impact socket....stupid point, but the car should also be on the ground obviously when trying to crack it. also when reinstalling the drive shaft, tighten the the nut before you drop the car or move it even the slightest bit, or you will destroy the wheel bearing...just some thoughts, changed a cv boot a couple weeks back.
