Yeah its actually happened twice now, and happened to me previosly with VDUBMONKEYZ which i thought were reliable.

Anyway my car wont start or run at all now. Im in big trouble as it was my daily..
The car cranks and cranks and tries to start but just doesnt. If it does happen to start its very hard to keep the idle up and it feels like the car is running on 3 cylinders or something. When i put my foot down it strugles to rev at all, and theres a fair bit of smoke.

Over fueling is an issue, timing is completely out too. Im running out of options. Could the coil be a problem, perhaps not enough spark?

What has changed since last time it worked? If you're running standard ignition it could be the condenser off the side of the dizzy.

Before the car died on me, the idiot i was i spent my money on other things, and now i actually need money to get it running agian (i presume i need money to fix solutions?)

Anyway I happen to find someone who sells carbon fibre vinyl, for a pretty good price. So i thought id set out and buy some. I dont want to give too much away, but all ill say is carbon fibre and bonnet. Hmmm its not what you think.

Also, i got sick of my exhaust, and wanted something that sounds nice and has a nice look to it.
Soooooooooooooooooooooo i bought a cannon. Now i can see half the VW community going *Ohh god this twat is gonna rice his car *
However, this is a WAY smaller exhaust as compared to the sh*tty rice ones. And its actually a branded one which isnt half bad, Magnaflow. It has a small outlet unlike others, and my plan is to cut the outlet, and make a long tail pipe from it. Should come out pretty neat. Have faith people

I havnt managed to start the car yet. No spark at all from the plugs. So im left to beleive its the coil or dizzy. Coils rarely die so i think its the dizzy. I swapped the point ignition thingo over, and still nothing. So my teachers gonna have a look at my dizzy tmoro. Hopefully the bugger starts, im so upset !!

The bonnet should be done over the weekend .. so hold out till then hehe

Its strange, i changed my dizzy out today with the old one, and the plugs seemed to spark again. Didnt think anything on the dizzy could have went wrong. I dont want to count my chickens before they hatch, but it seems i have a spark now, after replacing the dizzy. Lets hope that was the problem.

So once i took the dizzy out, i went about re-doing the timing. Chucked top dead centre with a screw driver and cranking the engine, then chucked the dizzy in making sure the rotor was on the 1st piston. So i crank and the carby starts to splutter. Strange, must be the timing? So i did a little retard or advance i dont remember, and try crank agian. BAAAAAAAAAAANGGGG my carby caught on fire. Was a massive burst of fire and then quickly stopped. Was very lucky nothing major happened.

Why is is spluttering upon crank? Is that still my timing completely off?

You do know that your engine is a 4 stroke so you will have 2 x top dead centres in each fire of the spark plug?

You have to get TDC on the compression stroke. Check by putting your thumb over the spark plug hole when you turn it over - you should feel the air trying to push your thumb off the hole. Turn the engine over slowly with the screwdriver measuring TDC. Dizzy should be pointing at the lead that goes to the piston you are checking AND the points should have just opened by a couple of degrees engine rotation. Now you start it and fiddle with the timing.

Love the exhaust, where did you get it?

    Cheers

    Paul
