Im suprised people like the exhaust hehehe, i thought it was a tad too ricey. Im planning on making a waaayy longer exhaust tip, i think 2.5" diameter. Should come out alright, will look like the original Fujitsbo exhaust from Japan.

On a good note, did TDC and all that, and the car started up. Played and played and played with the dizzy to get timing a bit better, but no matter what i do , the car wont rev past 3 - 3.5K revs. It seams to start backfiring then and running powerless.
In my opinion, it might not be on the EXACT TDC, therefor its firing before or after the piston comes up/down. Any advice on that would be very much apreciated, as i've tried everything.

Also now that it starts ill be buying a 32/26 weber, but dont know what to do with the current one.
Anyway, this weekend should have a few more updates.

there is 2 marks on the flywheel, one is a big arse diamond which is either 6 or 8BTDC (before top dead center)
and then a small circle dent next to it.

TDC for the crank will be the Circle.

Seeing as your car used to run, im putting my money on the timing/ignition side.

I don't think it's timing. With the amount of fidling you've been doing with the timing you should have got it right by now.

What's changed? You used to have it working well and now it won't go past 3500 rpm, something else isn't working. Fuel starvation? Spark breaking down?

Start be getting it idling then advance the dizzy so it's firing before TDC. Keep advancing it at idle until it starts to cough then retard it a fraction. That's the normal setting. You want it advanced as much as possible without coughing at idle. Are you sure you're advancing it? I always have to think twice when advancing and retarding.

Coils do go off and can break down at high revs so you should try another one.

Do you have an electric pump or mechanical? If mechanical then rev it and as soon as it starts to cough turn it off and check the float level in the carbie. If it's low then you are not getting enough fuel pumped in.

How old are the spark plugs? You might have a hairline crack in one that causes the spark to short out at high revs.

That should be enough things to try for now. Let us know how you go.

    Cheers

    Paul

Thanks alot Paul, ill make sure to try out as much of those as i possibly can. Spark plugs might be an issue, as my carb is running very rich due to its big size, and when i checked the plugs, they were fair dirty, so perhaps a shortage of sparks at high revs.

Now it wont go past 2k revs. I have a external pump, but doubt thats the problem, as if it was it would start jerking back and forth etc.. but when it hits around 2k rev, it just back fires and runs very rough and wont advance any further. The fastest i can go is 70km haha

Ill give a few more tries today with a few of my mates, they might have some contrast ideas too.
    Cheers fellas

plugs should clear up a little while driving, unless the carb is really rich right over the rev rage.

Still sounds like something in the ignition, i have a working coil that im willing to donate to the cause... just PM your details, Just cover the shipping

Have you set the gap on the points, they are REALLY picky, this its 0.4mm, will check manual for you. i had it off slightly and it caused all sorts drama!!

Sp the difference between the points should be 0.4mm? Im guessing i turn the dizzy till its at its highest point where the points are actually open, and set that to .4mm?

I cleaned all the spark plugs today, and still had the reving problem. So im ruling out spark plugs. Will try a donar spark plug leads i have in a few minutes and will see if that makes a difference. If not i have another coil too i can use, so thanks anyway for the offer Dan

I wasted all my time installing another extremely sexy blue guage in hehehe, just because i can. So now ill get stuck into the engine agian.

Oh and that is some sick poke, id like to go that far, but with stretched tyres and camber.
