you'd be suprised how much itll drop as you put weight back on it... i remember the first time i took the car off jacks with the coilovers in, masssive wheel gap just kept getting smaller, then the tyre started being swallowed into the guards, was a good feeling. hahah
i'm going to say this once.
MK 2 suspension wont work in a mk 1! Don't modify anything, or try and make them fit in anyway!
Either get on the blower to this company and start busting thier balls to send the proper stuff out! (at thier expense)
or hope that someone with a mk 2 is wanting some coilovers.
Expensive shipping rates (purchase or return) is just on of the risks when buying from overseas, having said that, I'd be having a very stern word to the vendor.

i have a set JOM coilovers for mk1 that i have used for 2-3 months and in market for some for mk2. if things dont work out your end with return /refund we may do a deal with exchange +-
Im happy to do some sort of deal, i guess it all depends on the condition of the coilovers, and if the perch nuts are still in good condition, as i dont want to get stuck with crappy nuts down the line.
If you could let me know asap so i know what to do with them, as i have to get back to the supplier asap.
Cheers
George

Hey mate, can you share your reasoning for this?
What's the height of the coilover George? Mine are already in the car (and a different brand) but you might be able to use these numbers for some reference?
Adjustable thread length = 180mm
Height from bottom bolt of shock to underneath of strut tower = ~390mm (currently spring sits pretty close half way up on thread).
Sorry I couldn't get fully un-tensioned lengths for you. If the heights are close I'd just modify and use them.
Being so cheap I wouldn't be surprised if the spring rates were the same across many models either.
because they're different mate!
I've owned enough mk 1's and a mk 2 (and well, a mk 3 which shares the same suspension design as the mk 2) to know that.
IF, IF you had a set of 16V mk 2 hubs, you might be able to use mk 2 struts in a mk 1, but even then, the length is significantly longer, springs rates would be off etc.
Woudn't be worth it, since you can just buy mk 1 coilovers.
Ok guys the supplier has came back to me with an offer.
It seams the rear ones fit, as they are the right ones. But the front ones are for a mk2 caddy. So they are offering me to pay extra on top, and they will send new mk1 coilovers to me, and let me keep to the front mk2 coilovers to sell. Now, im thinking its ridiculous, as who the hell would want to buy only front coilovers?
But anyway should i decline and ask for a full new set at their cost or?
