super etch? looks good
Skipped school and i thought I'd just work on the golf today haha. Was a long day and hard too, but i got the primer on and i think it came out very nice!
not too much words today, just pics:
My plan here is to not have any wires running on this side and make it as neat as possible. Im unsure if it is noticable, but this side had a lot of hols in it. I covered them up and now it is just two left. ( i have plugs for them).

nah it was, White Knight primer, not sure what exactly.
Started painting orange today, and it came out VERY good, but shortly the rain came as well. Pretty much stopped in my tracks and have to finish it tmoro. Should i spray gloss over it as well so that my paint doesnt chip as easy? BTW im using Squirts paint ( if that matters)
Glad to report back that the engine bay is done. The rain has given me many set backs, and me having to constantly pull the car in and out of the car port. The result is pretty good and i think the colour is pretty exact as well. Although im sure once i un-tape everything that the little problems will show them selves.
Tomorrow i will try to spray the gearbox as i got this pretty cool chrome looking paint and shall see how that goes. It all happened pretty quick really and i think the engine will be going in quite soon. Only problem i have left really, is adjusting the dizzy and getting an external fuel pump.
EDIT: just before anyone says that its not painted at the bottom, these pics were taken before the last coat on the bottom had been put on.![]()

Why don't you try and polish out the gearbox? iv seen some people do it on this forum. ( alex g)
The engine bay looks mint. You going to polish it after?
Good stuff,
Keep it up.

Did you weld up a few of the holes?
Bit late now, but it would've been good to relocate your battery/remove the battery tray as well.
You're doing some damn good work though. Coming up well.
sorry, but do either of you realise how much work both of those would be to do! wow!
Battery relocation isn't as hard, but expensive running the thick cables to the put (presumable where you're relocate the battery too)
and a gearbox has so many complex shapes.
Not having a go, just saying.
Good work george, keep it up!

How exactly is the box, or engine or some sorts become polished?
How do i go about it.
I have got a wire brush on a drill and been cleaning out my gearbox like that and it seems to have a polish sort of finish. How do i acheive it and make it last? If its sort of easy, i might try it. If not paint it is!
It's not easy at all for something like a gearbox. Ahhh so many little corners... The way I go about polishing metal is using sandpaper and gradually going up to finer grades. After using a fine enough sandpaper i then use steel wool. Then Autosol (metal polish) gets it gleaming.Other people might have better and more efficient ways of doing it though.
