This car is currently testing my patience...

Stripped the Hub/Carriers off of it last night, and one of the hubs is completely stuffed...
Big Props to Charles for organising a replacement for me though...

Picking up the bearings tonight, and will hopefully be fitting them tomorrow / saturday...

Oh, and to really test me, the pads on the front left are at about 10% remaining, and the front right is at about 70% remaining...
How the heck do they get that far out of wack???
Plus, yet another thing I have to buy, and very soon...

Wow. Ordered the parts Saturday week ago and delivered yesterday. 7 days from the time they would have received the order.
    Big props to vwheritage.

Bearings have just been fitted to the hubs-carriers.
Front pads and filters were fitted to the car last night.

On my way home now to fit the carriers and discs.

Can't wait to drive it again.

Ah, so nice to be able to cruise in my Dub again...

Also, I've been offered a '77 2 Door Golf GLD 1.6L Auto for a great price...
Paint, front bumper, front skirt, leading edge of the frond guards, rear seat are all trashed, but other than that, it doesn't seem too bad...
From what I've been told, the engine was rebuilt about 10 years ago, but has only done about 100000km's, so shouldn't be too bad.

    So many ideas...
Do I just part it out.
Do I strip it down, fix it up, and sell it on.
Do I gut it, and run it in the sh*tbox rally or equivalent.
Do I build it into a track car.
Do I turn it into a rally car.

    Gnaaa....

    Your funny Paul...

My cabby may leak, but it's mostly on the passenger side, so 'not my problem'...

    Grumble, mumble, grumble...

Found out that I need new wheel bearings and new drums on the rear too...
1x Bearing had 2 rollers fall out...
    1x Drum is 2mm oversize.

Worst part is that at some stage, one backing plate has been changed for the older type.
Thankfully, newer style drums will still fit the older plate.

On the plus side, I'm now committed to the 2-door parts car.
    Motor/Auto is going to Paul.
    Shell is going to Michael.
The rest will need to be sorted out prior to working out what I'm keeping, and what will be going out.

Hoping to pick it up this weekend, so I can start stripping it down.

Use some mk3 rear drums mate! Would be a nice upgrade and relatively cheap and easy.

    - Golf mk1 Swallowtail rebuild, completely stripped

Swapped the shell of my parts car for a disc brake rear end...
So once I get off of my arse, the rear brakes will be sorted...

Also figured out why 1 front brake was more worn than the other...
My car has it's brake lines setup like some Mk3's.
Master Cylinder Circuit 1 brakes on Front Left and Rear Right.
Master Cylinder Circuit 2 brakes on Front Right and Rear Left.

As I have issues with the rear left, this is causing the front right to not work correctly, and the front left is doing most of the braking.
