This one is SA , does that make it worse ?
Courtney did a little bit of work on it today , although the workshop turned into a sauna and not as much was done as hoped .
The rust is terrible , gonna be a real challenge to patch it up in some spots .
Im gonna need some help in the induction side of things . Since the car is auto the accelerator cable runs off the gearbox so Im kinda limited by carby choice . Im yet to find a decent blo through carby setup using a downdraught carby on original/near original manifold . Im also yet to find a decent big single carby set up that would work in place of the stock carby . If I could find one or the other it would determine if the car would go turbo or NOS path . At the moment all I can think of doing is having an adapter plate made up to run a holley of some sort .
When I looked into blow through turbo carb set up, I called Jakes performance in Canberra, bit of an expert on the topic.
he recommended a carb off an XF (or similar) falcon. Dual barrel, think it's a holley. It could be made to fit on a TS passat manifold I reckon, by use of an adapter plate. IIRC it's pretty similar looking to a TS passat unit, just larger. Got one down the garage somewhere if you want me to pull some specs off it..?
Progress is good..
If you need an adapter, send it up and i'll knock one up for you guys. :)
Getting there slowly but surely :) Plenty of rust to sort out though.
