When you replace the guards, use the factory zinc strips on the bolt holes, they act as a sacraficial anode for cathodic protection.

the zinc tabs are available from the dealer still.

    Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...

If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??

    Cheers,

So i got chance to drop the engine out today and do a little cleaning.

    [IMG][/IMG]

Engine bay was very dirty but first clean got allot of the grit and dirt away.

    [IMG][/IMG]

Got a spay can made up to spray the inner wing paint code L51C Miami blue (thought that was my color as it was the lightest blue in 1976, but the color was very different. The color on the car is defiantly from the factory because its under the dash, floor engine bay e.t.c.
Any body know wot paint code or color code my car is?????

    Many thanks.

There should be a sticker on the floor of the hatch with the paint colour name and code (this is probably not the case with Swallowtails...)

The colour, to me, looks more like Lago Blue (one of my favourite A1 factory colours) but that doesn't make sense as your car was made much earlier than Lago Blue is listed.

Did you get 75/6 from the build plate on the top of the core support/slam panel?

Good progress btw, I think I like where this is headed.

    Hi Jace

looked in the rear, no paint sticker

Relay not sure of the colour could be Lago Blue or Whisper Blue.

The AU compliance plate states the car was compiled on 02/1976 so the colour really is a head scratcher

The car is definitely a factory colour the paint is too good for in not to be, even under the carpet inside.

    Help!!!

One more picture with a closer look

The more little bits I see of this car, the more I want it! Look how good that stock paint is!

You could always get the colour scanned by a paint retail shop, or if you have access to a paint/panel shop just colour match it by eye (takes a bit of knowledge though)

I know it's all about DIY (and kudos to you for that) but getting a qualified spray painter to colour match you a few liters might be your best bet if you can't get colour tester chips.

sweet ride mate! ive had a color match done before for a yellow color
came out spot on and was well worth it, but with a bit of research you should be able to find a color code
    somewhere on the net

some of the early australian cars were painted in dulux colours, they had a little tin plate with the code stuck on the front support next to the compliance plate. looks like it's missing if it was there but might be worth looking into those colours? progress looks good!
