    my new golf :)

so i just sold my mx5 and have decided to get an alfa berlina and as im sure your aware alfas are not very reliable or cheap so i have decided ill have a golf as well as they are much more reliable so i went and picked up a 1978 mk1 4 door for $500
so this is the mx5 that gets picked up on the 28/06/13 then ill be carless so gotta get the golf redgo stat

    and this is the golf.

so far plan is to get it redgoed, clean it up as its pretty ruff get coil overs new wheels or use a set i have, and probably paint it. also sand and oil and fit a set of timber splattered roof racks i have. also i have a few timber nardi intiror parts ill be adding as well.
im sure there will be more but that's the plan for now.

also any one know the size of a stranded steering wheel or have one i can borrow or buy for roadworthy?

that was a well taken photo sadly the dash is pretty stuffed. cleaned the car up lots. degreased the engine bay a bit. and fixed up the bushes in the gear linkage they where all in the wrong spots all the pivots where metal on metal shift feels much better now. been looking under the car to find out what needed to be replaced and am very impressed all the rubbers seem good (tie rod ends steering rack boots drive shaft boots) are all good need a few fuel lines replaced and the carbi needs a tune.

at the moment it wont start since i washed the engine bay. but i also unpluged part of the alarm and that might have killed it as well. ill get it started again tomorrow i hope.

any one wanna tune the carbi for me? i have only owned one other carbi car (1970 beetle) but it ran perfict so i never had to play around with the carbi. in the golf it seems to run fine when its first started till it worms up then as soon as the revs drop it stalls when i drove it home i just drove with my foot on the throttle at all times too keep the revs up. any one have an idea of how to fix this?

Thanks guys it was a great car only down sides with it is its very very small I did manage to fit some epic amount of stuff in it though. Also I am on my green ps now and can have pasangers so would be nice to have a car that acomadated also did atracked some po po atention. So was time to move on. Hopfully ill get some time on Saturday to replace the fuel lines that leak and fix the surfuce rust seems like the roof has been covered in tree sap at some point in the cars life and now has small rust spots growing. And few others in od spots. Ill get some more pictures then as well as at the moment it looks like this is a thread on mx5 s
