    Nice clean 4 door.
Yeah, common garden variety Aussie 1600.
Looks like a latish one - its got the cute 'suck-through' anti-pollution
pipes bolted to the frint of the head (which look blocked off). This was VW's second attempt at a post-76 anti-pollution setup. Beats the air-pump they used to use
Plus, they sooted up anyway, so became beautifully non-functional.
As I remember, there was a channel through the head to the exhaust port. The idea was that the exhaust gas would suck extra air through, to help clean up the exhaust by buring up any unburnt fuel misture...

Car is now on the rd, wootah. Fixed everything and got the RWC... took 1 day to fix most of the problems. The worst thing was the breaks. When the mechanic was driving it for the RWC the metal break hose broke in the footwell and it went from normal breaks to NO breaks... he totaly freaked lol. Needed to get a new break hose prof fitted. Cost me $170!

Sister is driving it around Geelong no worries.... long live the golfs
