its a noticeable change, it pulls hard and then just dies in power - as if your not accelerating or its chocking. i've got a dellorto side carby.

    any thoughts??

I think golfman (josh) had a similar issue. pretty sure he solves it by gettting rid of his velo stacks/trumpets and just running a ramflo filter on it, what filter do you have on atm?

other problem could be the tuning, either the carb or timing is out of whack

not having too much running issues now...

Sometimes the temp hits up to 3/4 then backs off. i find its more on the hwy for the first 10-15 mins it will heat up a tad, then back off again. im not worrying about it really.

As for my carb, it pulls harder the more you rev, right up to 6000-6500.
But it is rather boggy/laggy/jumpy in first few revs.

So its been a little while, thought id update.

Thought the brakes where rather crappy on the golf, so decided to upgrade to a rather common setup.

    Vented Rotors up front,
    SEAT Cordoba Rear drums
SEAT Cordoba Booster with a AUDI Master Cylinder.
    Pulsar Reservoir.

All went together easy, was done in a couple of hours, alot was cleaning and double checking everything .
They work rather well, pedal feels soft and then the brakes kick in pretty hard!!.. think ill re bleed them again to see what happens.

As you can see i have no brake light sensors connected as i think it looks neater without them.... Not to fear, i hooked up a pedal switch curtsy to a Falcon ( XD i think)

Next step, am sick of the Sloppy gear changes and clunking noises when changing gears.
So ive Pulled it all out and started to clean it all.. As you can see in pic below the Rubber boots are rather clapped out!! where do i get new ones?
Also it seems i only have half a bush where the end of the rod connects to steering rack area.....

Engine is currently stripped and ready to be pulled out in favour for a MK3 golf 1.8L...
Curious to see how it goes, keeping it all stock, even going to back to a quiet exhaust

Still got a bit to do, stuff to order but getting there!!!

good work with the brake upgrade, you won't know yourself!

pedal may feel 'softer' cause of the newer/larger booster. its boosts more than the other one, so the pedal will be easier to use. should feel like driving a new car (well the brakes atleast)

You should be able to get a shifter rebuild kit on Ebay. At least the forward most bushings, not sure about the boots further back.

Good to see an update! Good luck with the swap too.
