So having a problem with hunting idle and stalling lately.

I checked to make sure idle solenoid was working, and it is. i have also connected it straight to + of coil for a better connection. have yet to drive it like that though as ive just done it.

Put a New earth wire from carby to tappet cover.

It just stalls randomly, and if let idle for 30-40 seconds, it starts to "splurge" sort of, idle will drop to around 400rpm, hunt a bit, then even lower to point batery light comes on, then it will jump straight back up to 950-1000rpm.

Thinking maybe something to do with fuel? How do i go about adjusting float level?

so not much has happened lately

starter was cranking very slow for a while, backed the timing off, put a new battery terminal and a different starter motor in. seems all good now.
I also smashed my front spoiler off a few times, it has actually broken the clip in the middle, so i had to zip tie it !!

Hey mate I run the same engine/gear box set up as you in a mk1. Just wondering how you went with the engine temp - mine gets to 3/4's almost full and then backs off again like you mentioned - was there a problem in the end of just the way it is???

Also, when I rev it out, from about 4500 onwards it just dies or misses or something, sort of losing power - just wondering if this is a timing issue or if you had this problem too? I think you mentioned something of it earlier in the thread!...any help would be goood!

Car looks good too mate, keep it up.

is it a noticable change from what it was before 4500rpm, or is it just that it doesn't get any faster after that? what carb are you running?
