1.8 and that's all i could find 2 yrs ago goes great.
Though a 2ltr would be a little more fun up top.

Nice..... I have read most of the replys in here, so sorry if im asking a question that has been answered, might have missed some
What mods has your car got?
quick list would be king springs, koni adj ride, mk2 dash, the mags you can see B R green is the colour, cabrio grill ,mk2 bumber and all the bits like diesel fuel lines, tank for the k-jet setup, obvious 16v in the photo, engine oil cooler mounted as the last motor being an ev gti, and as i'am a Loon as well, engine oil temps ran a little hot, thus the cooler this time.
bottom control arm brace as u would all know crackswill appear in the body and this will help with that as well as turn in stiffness into corners.
oh mk2 gti stoppers that were new out of the box, diesel rear drums. actually i think i've just covered most of the car.So not many compared with some and it's a dream to drive.

Anyhow the wheels are not a big concern.
I had the car on the dyno today just got it on the road wed,
100.1 hp wheels running no vacum adv 74.9 kw @wheels, which is converted by the computer to be 123.9 hp @fly/w which is pl prefix eng code i believe was a u s release and had a smaller intake cam.
KR cam next then on the dyno again maybe with some vac adv nextime
cheers dave
Very nice, taking notes for my potential 16v conversion...
76 MkI 3 door - daily drive/project - 1.8 5speed
76 MkI 3 door swallowtail - 16v track car
76 MkI 3 door "long term" project
i'll throw some more pics on later tonight of when i put the motor in,
cause i want to.
i'm pleased to hear that some of you are interested in my conversion, it was quite easy, though playing with k-jet took on a whole new meaning ,for me anyway.
Lots of fun behind the wheel to be had for you guys thinking of converting.
But just as much fun with the 8v gti that was in it, with only 11 hp difference the pull up high in the revs are apparent compared with the 8v wich was as strong down low if not a little stronger......bla bla bla
pics are always easier to read.
Dave
Hope you don't mind me posting a pic of my 16v guys that I'l building in a caddy
A pic of my alternater and late style belts/pullies
I love pics
I so wanted a 16V, but cant do it myself (at this stage in my life). Went to a mechanic and asked if he could do it for me..... he said it will take all week to do it..... and at something like $60 per hr thats big bucks.... ill stick with the 8V for time being.
