Chassis has been notched for this reason, as was fouling when I owned it.
Yeah that's right. Is such a fun car
Love the original thought of the number plates!
Might invest towards plates myself
MK1, 1976 golfLS, 4 door (SOLD! Will be missed)
MK1, 1980 golfGLD, 4 door (1.8l, 8v, 5 speed)
Well not much been happening with the golf...just loving having another mk1 to enjoy!
It had some issues like when I was driving it, it would all of a sudden lose acceleration and die. Sometimes it would start after 5 mins, sometimes after 4 hours or so Anyway thats all fixed...replaced carby, ignition coil, spark plugs and leads, vacuum advance unit, vacuum lines, fuel filter, cleared fuel lines and it still did it. Drained the fuel tank (which funnily enough the access cover is found on the side of the tank and not through the floorpan like most) and found the filter on the end of the line was clogged. Cleaned it up and it hasnt stopped since!
Got a letter today in the mail to say that it has to go in for a vehicle inspection as they have been informed that my car may not be in a safe or roadworthy condition due to lowered suspension, wheels/tyres not complying with regulations. I know it will not pass with coilovers in it and it doesnt have a heater box and a few other bits and pieces so I bought another mk1 to get all the pieces off! Hopefully she will pass
