I'm thinking of making a pilgrimage up to Sydney in the next two to three weeks to raid your stocks of Mk1 parts but will be sure to check the inventory well in advance.
Keep up the great work mate.
Thanks man, hope to see you soon. The car is Oak Green, which was a limited edition colour for the Mk2 16v. Therein lies a clue to the engine of my beast, to the well informed

I looked for a straight rust free shell for ages and all the three doors were flogged or rusty. This car has 70,000kms and no rust. I can live with the extra doors.

So its been a busy weekend.
Put all new gaskets on the gearbox and oil contol seals.
And swopped the hubs to let me use the 20 driveshafts that I have here.
Gave it a bit of paint and a new bush kit too.

My new clutch kit arrived last week, so I bolted that to the engine and sorted out the pulleys and belts and whacked the alternator on. I cut the alternator bracket in half as it is so heavy.

Then I bolted the engine and box together and stuffed them in the car.

I usually drop motors in from the top, but the whole engine bay has been resprayed and is very shiny, so I put this one in from below! I`d leave the alternator off next time!

Close of play today is the two side engine mounts done up and the car has an engine for the first time in 2 years!

    Next is wiring.

Good work, Loon For God's sake, lose that blue, though Oak Green is a classic and subtle VW colour and is spoiled by common old Ford blue!!!

Thanks Valver. Its only under the bonnet and I need a colour to compliment the Oak. Silver and black gets lost, it needs something else. hence the blue.
I did take out the lime green booster and will be making it black though.
The outside of the car will look stock, the interior will be special

I`ve had to lift my game after seeing your car mate. Something to aspire to.
