    wohooo for a low mk1

    did you have to space the mk3 steelies out to fit them with coilovers?

    haha i know. when i was put ing it down off the jack i was doing it really slow just going... come on mud flap hit the deck... come on... it's closer to the ground than it looks, the sun is very low in the sky


    no spacers in the front.... the gap is bugger all though.



    i figured id set the coilovers at the lowest setting and work my way up

    you'll have to clearance (notch) the chassis if you want to run the fronts wound all the way down, the RHS driveshaft will hit at that height. if you leave about 55mm on the thread, you'll hit the chassis with it, but not too badly.

    I'm yet to notch my chassis so I can go lower. I'm pretty sure i had a mudflap on the ground when I tested it on my car, although, I may have got creative when mounting the mudflap!

    yeah i have seen that mentioned around the traps (driveshaft issue) but it's not resting on it as it sit's, but it's in easy reach of the suspension travel.

    i'm sure i'll be winding it up once i've taken it for a spin.

    careful on the camber front aswell, I rolled my mk1 that low for ages and it wore a hole in the passenger side diff seal...

    also with the new gearbox the driveshaft was actually hitting on the inner flange making a horribe noise!

    If your going to run it that low, I suggest getting the passenger side driveshaft shortened a little

    mmmm all good advice. i have to get back in there to replace both drive shaft boots and the steering rack too. so i'll have a better look at what issues are there.

    what do you mean by new gear box? was it hitting the inner flange with the old gearbox whatever that was? ..... basicly trying to say was it caused buy the new gear box or was it always an issue..... ?

    it's a problem you may encounted when because you're really low. if you look at the LHS DS you'll see it's up at an all mighty angle, which isn't pushes the DS in further towards the flange (of the gbox) which then means the CV can't get full range of motion and the driveshaft may actually foul on the inside of the flange.

    it's a problem josh recently discovered on his mk 1, and probably the same issue that i'm having with mine too.

    solution, is to run it heigher. simple as that. or clearance the back of the CV and (edit end of the DS.

    did you edit that post a bunch mid way? cause i couldn't quite get what you meant. isn't the drive shaft on less of an angle as you lower the car? and is that where the problem is? the drive shaft is being pushed into the box?

    guys.... if the DS is pointing up at an angle, wouldnt it be pulling OUT not pushing IN? wouldnt it be closest when dead flat?
