    My 1st Mk1 - A build thread

    Hey guys,
After a bit of a search i finally found a mk1 to call my own. Its matt black, auto and really badly put together, but the price was right and I was up for a challenge!
I have begun organising all my parts for manual conversion, replacement of all the faded/damaged parts and started to strip the car down.
I do have one question: does anyone know where I can get full floor pan replacement sections in Aus? I can find them from Europe and USA, but no-one to freight them, and the passenger floor is rusted through.
I think this might turn into a bit of a build thread, depending on how much work I get done between working on other peoples Golfs and actually being arsed to work on it.
Only have a few pics of it at the moment, crappy iPhone photos, will try and upload them for you all
    Cheers, Dave.

congrats on getting the mk 1 Dave.

AFAIK there are no sellers of replacement panels here in Oz.

Might have to think outside the square when it comes to shipping - when there is a will, there's a way!

You would be better off in the long run if you waited until a good rust free one came up,they are still out there.

Hey badger, pretty sure Glynn and I will be heading up there in the very near future with a car and trailer to help relieve you of some parts, I would take the whole car if I had space for it, but unfortunately 1 mk1 is enough at my place at the moment
Cheers for the offer, looking forward to road tripping up there mate!

all good Dave. once you take what you need it's going to scrap yard. the shell is pretty bad so good decision in just taking parts.
just need to get a hoist and possibly a grinder to be lazy if you ca.nt be bothered unbolting parts
