I'm surrounded by highway, I got myself a 4T code 5 speed its pretty tall so should do the trick just have to drop it in needs a good clean first.

This thing looks awesome, low and slow, do you have any clearance problems up steep driveways and speed humps?

I think that putting a 5 speed in might be alright, but you have to keep in mind once it's out of the powerband you will be forever shifting back down to 4th to keep the power up, and the economy might not get much better.

Would you be able to get a sound clip of it? I've not heard the mk1 diesel motor in about 10 years.....

Ive been driving stupid lowered cars for around 10 years now , I'm careful where id drive its not a daily atm. Im aware the 5 speed will be alot different dropping back to 4th doesn't bother me, i have no issues with economy didn't buy it for that reason although it is good on fuel. Plenty of sound clips on you tube already, but she will be at vw warwick this year so ill get someone to record it down the track

Had a play with the GLD yesterday decided to put a oil cooler on the beast, some mk1 enthusiasts may notice the grill has been cut out for air flow was a 3hour job to do it right

Also had a play with some aluminum end caps for the cooler, i thought the cooler looked to plain and cheap (which it is). Bent up some aluminum and polished them up they are 100% removable just there for cosmetic purposes

Cooler looks great, especially in such a ridiculously clean engine bay!

Tthe hardest part was cutting the grill fins to go all the way across the grill and the oil cooler end caps rest was pretty easy.
