    MkI 2 door restoration project...

This is my new MkI. Got a bit bored with the MkIII so I sold it.

The plan: Attempt to restore this little beast to its original condition. Should make a gnarly club/weekend car.

My main priority - rust repairs...

    Restorable

It looks very restorable and a good example. The new forum will have a "Restorations and Projects" forum so that we can all keep up with threads like this. (Suggested by bug_racer.)

Hi Paul, how bad is the floor? Looks like you are ripping into it already! Seat seats (?) fit? Have fun mate.

Yeah spent a bit of time yesterday pulling the interior out & sanding off surface rust (rust converter - be my friend). The floor around the driver & passenger side looks a bit ordinary but repairable - I'm thinking I might have to cut and weld new floor plates in and fabricate new front cross members (supporting front seats).

    ...any advice/recommendations welcome.

Can't wait to start tinkering with it again

PS: Is it normal to dream about your MkI?!?!?

Be gentle with her, she is a swallowtail.

    Dont hurt the back panel.

Floors dont look too bad in the pics. Bit of patchwork, rather than full new floors?

    Good score I reckon.
