mk2 RV engine in mk1 golf

    Hey guys and girls.
I have a Mk1 Golf GLS and Mk2 GTI. Im thinking of putting the 8V RV into the Mk1. Will this be a fairly straightforward swap or not.
Also the Mk2 is Auto i would like to change over to Manual. What box will bolt unto the RV?

    Thanks Simon.

The mk2 engine should bolt straight up to your stock engine mount brackets. Everything up to mk3 8v's bolt straight in. It should mount up to any 020 gearbox, which would already be in the mk1, and 5 speeds can be sourced elsewhere.

There are very little differences between the 8v engines over the first three generations

it bolts straight in, i have one in my mk1.
the 4sp box from whatever engine (1.6 manual?) is in your mk1 will bolt straight up, thats what im running currently.
you keeping k-jet or swapping it over to carbs?
mine has a 32/36 weber and i blocked off the injector holes in the head with blanks i bought off ebay

    hope that helps!

also the RV is the better of the 8v engines as it has 10:1 comp as opposed to 8.5:1 the others run

I was hoping to stay with digi. Will this be a problem. I'm changing dash and fuse over as well.
