should use a generic 3 bolt flange gasket near the steering rack assuming you have the stock exhaust, i find using a sealant like Maniseal works awesome

Tooleys would be able to post you a set.
Worst case VW spare parts department will have them, they're the same as on the MK3.

on an other note i am about to re connect the uni joints, should i clean and regrease? (there is still quite a lot of grease in them) what sort of grease?
any help on this would be much appreciated as you may have already guessed I'm pretty rookie at all this
