Last update was 3 months ago. Wow.

Since then I have done the headliner, although the back part still needs fully tucking in etc.

Windscreen is in and new duckbill spoiler.

It was running, but not well when it went to the panelbeaters, when it came back the engine wouldnt turn over and when we cracked it loose it had low compression on 2 and 3.

Ripped the motor out with the intention of doing the headgasket and the rings. Cheap quick job!

Got a bit carried away did it right, got the head rebuilt, new guides and seals, new rings and bearings and timing belt, waterpump, tensioner and clutch for good measure!

Feeling somewhat poorer at the moment, it`ll have to work now.

Finally found time to put it back in the car this week. Here is how she looks now.

And one of the car with the duckbill, sorry for poor light.

Exhaust is now in and will be leaktight when I find the other damn c clamp.

Hve been rebuilding CVs and radiator whilst the car is apart. I want it original, but working properly.

Its such an early GTI, makes me smile how old and hard to get some of the spares are.

    More soon
