So an update - have done some painting and fixing and few other useless mods over last few weeks.. but we failed rego..
Aparently the front ball joint is loose.. and mechanic reckons there's too much play in the front left wheel.. is this a common issue? Best way too fix?
We where told that as long as we can get ot a bit tighter they will pass it.. any ideas or spares laying around guys?
Next on the agenda.. roof racks.. whats the easiest and cheapest way forward.. anyone have any laying around? Or know anythin else that fits?
We're with Speedweak too, my mates from Broken Hill in a V8 Merc, should be a blast.
Our ball joints were shagged too, you just need to check what diameter the shaft is, as they differ from diesel to petrol and depending on what's been modded in the past... could have spares here that Preeny gave me I can send to you if he's ok with that.
Front wheels could just be bearings or bushes or even the strut? ours are pretty good... find another mechanic...
We grabbed some $65 universal gutter mount roof racks from supercrap, so that's probably what you'll need if you can find something locally cheap on ebay or facebook sales pages, although people want stupid money for flogging roof racks, the old man and I made up a basket and air-foil that goes over.
Currently working on our rear struts, and finding front shock inserts might be difficult...
Yeah i need to get under and have a look.. only issue is that we only have 14 days before it needs a blue slip which will br hard to get ha.. already tried 2 mechanics.. people dont like our car..

Need to do bashplate at some stage.. not going to worry about nudge bar or anything.
So after a bit of fiddling and kicking.. the issue is a warm/screwed inner tie rod end on the passenger side.. the ball joint moves around... Causing the wheel to move a bit too much for the guy to register it.
1 - Are there any ways to limit the movement easily? Just needs to pass pink slip
2 - Does anyone have a spare one laying around that we could buy/steal/borrow
3 - If not, does anyone know who might have one or a similar part that would fit..
It is kind of urgent since we only have around 10 days before it needs a blue slip, which we would rather not do.. happy to pay in cash/beer/favours
Well we can now tell you all that the first of our few articles has been published in Unique Cars.. we should be doing 2-3 more and then a big one after the rally.. so here is the first part..
we will be doing a bash plate next week... want me to try to do a 2nd for you guys? we've added a heavy duty front end to ours for some sh*ts n giggles, but with some slight modding it should bolt up to a factory front bar.
