Saw the yellow one yesterday. The main problem is the blown head gasket. It goes pretty hard. Was wet, so was wheel spinning easy, but it was easy quick enough for me.
Has rust on the guards and at the bottom on the windscreen where the A pillar meets the bonnet (both sides). It was pretty slapped togethor. Everything was hand made, so looked dodgey, but worked ok. Fuel pump was from a wrx and VERY noisy. Battery located in boot. Air inlet where it sits on the carby was cable tied togethor. Gear change was great... short shifter is awsome. Radiator reserve was cable tied to something.
electrics where a bit stuffed. indicator was blinking really fast, but both where working and the intermediate wiper speed was stuffed.
Would need a fair bit for a road worthy like the above mentioned, and 2 new tyres.
So to get it to the standard that im after I would need to spend big bucks.
Breaks where standard also... well he said he thinks it has passat drums on the back, but still crap.
Was a hoot to drive though, just a bumber its so slapped togethor. Im really looking forward to havin one of these cars.

Im lookin at the red one at 3 today (in about 3 hrs)

I hope its as good as it sounds/looks on the net.

    Update:

    The damn car wouldnt start!
Its been sitting there for ages, so had no water in it... rusty inside the radiator also. No oil leaks, which is good. Some idiots ran there key along the bonnet, so its got a deep scratch along it, and also tried to write the F word on it to... some people are so stupid. The actual car is in pretty good nick, broken window winder, bonnet release is broken, parcel shelf is falling apart. Just little things.
The reason it wouldnt start is because there was no petrol getting into the carbs. I took the fuel lines off and they where all empty. I also sucked on the lines to try and get petrol out of the tank, but was only breathing in fumes, so I wouldnt think they are blocked, must have a leak somewhere. And I couldnt put fuel in the carbs to see if it will run because it has a webber, so they are horizontal ... It def had a full tank of petrol juts before it was left.... The actual engine kicked over, so its not stuffed.... actually looks quite clean considering.

Im contemplating offering him $500 and getin it towed to my place and seeing what I can do.... the only problem is, i have no idea how it runs. Gearbox, clutch, electrics might be stuffed  .... its a gamble.... but I might just try.... thats if he takes my offer. It has 12 months rego, which is worth $500 by itself. If it was working, and ran ok I would have bought it...... tough call

Ill try my luck tomoz with the offer, if its a no ill leave my number, he said he will try and see what he will get trade in.... would be sweet FA... so my $500 offer would look ok.....

    ill keep ya all posted

Gamble Gamble. Buy the car, engines run forever and gearboxes. Cheap to replace if not. I reckon youd get it going with some aerostart and a battery.

    So close now

Heres the deal (if anyone still cares hahahaha)

The actual owner of the car now lives in singapore, so his mate is selling it on his behalf. Which is why its been sitting for months.
I just offered him $500 for it, and he said "to be honest I couldnt care less if you offered $100 or $500", doh!.. so anyways.. hes going to contact his mate in the next couple of days and get back to me. He said he will try and convince his mate to get rid of it because he doesnt want it at his house.... fingers crossed!

Im gettin so close now. Thanks for the help guys, appreciate it!

Nice one. All the best with the buy. Shame it's not a 2door though. Everyone knows they're quicker
