Yes, standard mk 1 chrome bumpers will work. (good luck finding a pair ;P) you'll just have to block up the small holes from the side supports of the plastic bumpers if you switch. (or weld, fill, respray if you're that talented or committed)
Yeah, I can imagine finding them will be hard, especially here in Aus. It needs a bit of touch up paint here and there because unfortunately the car is parked outside due to the other newer car occupying the garage.

If you want to get rid of the black plastic piece at the rear under the rego plate, I am interested in it.

    Let me know

    Thanks

Get rid of the oil cooler. It serves no purpose on a 1.5D. If you want to keep the standard motor I suggest a cordoba 5 speed box along with the flywheel and clutch, replace the exhaust from the manifold back, including the tiny flex section and then consider the governor spring. Then you will be able to cruise comfortably at 130 kms/hr.

THe motor will last forever as long as you dont cook it. The best way to prevent it from overheating is to replace all of the coolant hoses. It may cost you a few dollars but it is worth it. THe hoses under the injector pump are particularly susceptible to failure due to exposure to diesel fuel. I have had the hose from the head to the water pump fail on two different cars in exactly the same spot

Where is the best place to get a set of replacement hoses for the GLD so I can do this job sooner rather than later? Can you buy complete sets or individually?

    Thanks

I've purchased hoses off German Auto Parts in the USA. THere may be other cheaper suppliers though.....
