ive got a mk1 running the mk2 k-jet ev engine and my prob is the car is hard to start when i leave it for about 20 mins - 2 hours, it starts fine when totally cold and after about the 2 hour mark, and it starts straight away after i go for a drive, the guy i bought said it was the accumulator but every mechanic says somthing different. and most mechanics dont know s*** about k-jet systems.

HELP!!

If you turn the ignition on, the pump should start to build up pressure. Let the pump cyle for a minute, then try and start the car. If this works, it is probably the accumulator.

On the mk1 the fuelpump is primed by the relay when you shut the ignition off. The mk2 relay runs the pump when you turn the ign on.

I used to swap the relays on mk1s for mk2s, that way you can flick the key on a couple of times and get the fuel pressure up before going for a start.Not sure if the relay will go in the early ceramic type fusebox. It definitely works with the later blade fuse type. It would be too hard to do an extension wiring job on the relay to make it run the early fusebox though.

You are probably not in th emarket for one but this gauge kit is the thing to diagnose pressure issues on Kjet.

This car is a non genuine Mk1 injected. Who knows what wiring is hooked up to the pump. I see lots that are hard wired!

yeah the wireing on this car is a nightmare.. thats the mian problems that ive had soo far but the engine has only about 150,000ks on it so it drives well. (when i get it started)

another thing the fuel pump is noisy does that mean its old and worn out??

oh and another thing, i dont know if this is related but if i put my foot down a little through a corner or big round about it fells like the car starves itself of fuel and jerks before a boost of acceleration. if any1 can shed some light or had a similar problem. post
