    Mk1 Extractors / exhaust

Back to my thread that was lost last week. I bought the mk1 8v extractors from straightline. The price seems to have gone up a bit since anyone last posted about them (now $385) but that's all good.

Now Mick said that they're only fit up to the 1.6ltr but from what I've heard they'll fit the 1.8ltr (JH code) as the block is the same height. Can anyone confirm this? Best know now before they start making them.

In previous post it also said that on the 1.9 sd the stud are 8mm and the 1.6 and below are 10mm. I'm pretty sure, without checking, that the 1.8 is also 8mm. My assumption is then that I can get them to make mine with 8mm fixings so that I don't have make up a 2mm sleeve to get them to fit.

When the extractors are all sorted where should I go to have them fitted and get my new exhaust? Preferably somewhere near the city. Any suggestions?

Lastly, noise and performance; my criteria for my new exhaust is best possible performance gains but not too loud. (I'm sure a lot of you don't want hear that). I want it to give of a great noise when I floor it but be tame when coasting. I do a lot of early morning site visits so it doesn't make a lot of sense roaring in at 6am and waking up half the neighborhood, also it doesn't sit great with my clients. Any advice on how best to achieve this would be greatly appreciated.

Lastly how much should I be looking at spending?

    Thanks in advance, Ed
