I replaced my braking system on my 1975 Passat (same system as a Mk1 golf). I replaced the brake booster with a seat ibiza, got a 22mm MC, got rear proportioning valves for discs, got rear Mk3 disc brakes, got front Audio 80 brakes off a 1986 model. All these parts are pretty much bolt on.
Images of my set up can be seen here http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/foru...tml#post698365
This is my first time upgrading a braking system and I think I done it correct.
However it seems to be sticking. When everything is cold and I start up the car the brakes seem to be normal, when I hit the brakes my brake light comes on and off and the car can be rolled freely and the brakes feel good. However after about a 5 mins of driving the braking system changes. It no longer rolls freely on a little slope and my brake lights are continuously on and you can feel the brakes holding the car back.
I have the pressure brake light switch. So it leads me to believe that there is still pressure in my brake system when my foot is off the brake.
FYI The hose that goes from my brake booster to the intake manifold is very soft and flimsy. I could compress all the pistons when I put them on in the beginning (The left rear was a bit stubborn).
However Im not sure where to go from here on. Need some help on this issue.
