Met the infamous Preeny today, awesome guy, thanks for the call man!

He donated us a spare radiator, some diesel injector lines, a spare air box lid (yay for mods!)

and a pair these puppies with MK1 rails, I actually couldn't let him give them too me for nothing, so gave him some coin - but Chris, if the mrs asks, they were donated

Again, a massive thanks to Chris at TPR Engineering

Mucked around with upping the size of the intake on the original airbox lid today...

    75mm gutter flashing from bunnings - $2.50

5 mins with a drill, a few mins sanding and cleaning up, a smear of silicone, some pop rivets for added security, and a lick of satin black (still wet in pics) and the intake is ready for some sort of modded breather hose.

now for some kind of snorkel...

back in the day I plumbed 90mm PVC from the airbox down the just behind the grill. Might have got me another 0.3hp I reckon too . It does make a really loud and beasty sounding intake noise with a big pipe on there though.

I slapped it on and it just clears the tappet cover, probably just have to shorten up the pipe a bit more, we're probably going to run it to the passenger side rain tray, with a small pod tucked in there - it will act as an initial filter for the heftier stuff on dirt roads, and mean that if we do a water crossing that's a bit deep, we should be safe from water.

yesterday was small things... small annoying things... Dad drove it back into town ready for blue slip, the port windows fell out again...

Tried to glue them up with the rear view type 2 part glue, it failed on all accounts, I dunno what it is with the metal and glass combination, but who knows how the got it to work 40 years ago...

So some gaffa tape and some wedges will get it thru rego.

And the seats are in... Dad is 6ft, and I'm about 6'2" and the bolts on the rails clashed, so we decided to shave them down a bit... well I did 7 of the 8 bolts... dad did 1... and went too far so we couldnt tighten it up, and in his attempts to tighten it, cross threaded it too...

so he spent the next 2 hrs trying to find a matching bolt, and a matching thread die to clean up his mess...

    *Sigh* parents hey?

But can't complain too much, because our washer bottle was leaky and the pump was busted, so he took the bag and pump off our old '76 civic wagon paddock basher and it works!

Off for a blueslip (RWC) and rego on tuesday!

    We have rego!

and a few small things to sort - a ball joint that is in need of replacing, and the seal on the throttle shaft of the injector pump needs doing, and it was suggested we did the CV boots etc as well, but none of those things really were affecting the RWC... all that is quite hard when it's 150 clicks from the un-rego'd car to a reliable mechanic, living in a small rural town does have its benefits.

    sorry for potato spec
