spoke to matt from camden he said he dosent believe it can be done due to the mounts, however hes got a mk3 engine there ready to go which i may consider, if i go down that path isnt it true that you can run them off carby or efi? if so then is it possible to get a cross flow head for it?.
I just want to make sure i try every avenue before giving up on the v5 conversion. interms of the electrics, agreed defiantly will be the hardest part. though i wont be taking any of the luxuries ie demister, sun roof, rain sensors etc. just ecu really. i guess its just a good opportunity to try the conversion as i already have a donor car which is just collecting dust, saves me having to try and source a halfcut, but as i said before its just hard trying to find someone willing to put in the time to actually do it...
I could fit a KR 16 valve engine in a mk1 GTI in 2 days. A carby would take a while longer, you'd need to get an injection tank and run some fuel lines which adds a bit of complication.
Running it on carbs would be possible but then you'd spend money on them and tuning.
