Had a hotter engine on my MK2 Scirocco K-Jet, when in summer at 30'C. These are my notes.............
At 80k miles..
The engine over heated in summer. System was flushed and new rad fitted, head gasket changed, oil water cooler changed, all to no avail. The water pump although physically OK I changed. THen everything went OK. Put it down to a part worn impellor on the blade tips. But it was hard to see why???
At 120K miles the head was skimmed.......
Engine running warm since skimmed head at 98C oil temp instead of 92'C with lower oil pressure as a result. Fitted new lower temp thermostat (marked 82'C) Thermostat, part number 037 121 113, range 82C - 97C against standard 87C - 102C for the orignal fit. Engine running cooler at 87C normally where previously it was 95C. Oil pressure at temp now improved.
Only negative for me was in winter at 0'C, the heater was only very warm, not mad hot.
Hope this helps if you ain't fixed yet. Thermostat is a standard fit on the injection engines.
