Have you been able to test the control pressure and therefore pin point that it is the WUR that is at fault? I am local and have a gauge you can use if not (assuming the screw treads are the same as kjet)

I'm chasing down a replacement control pressure regulator as my cabrio is having some warm up issues. Once it's at temperature she runs fine... (other than every time i take my foot of the accelerator the idle drops, nearly stalls but then kicks back up to normal idle however that's another story... Anyway before i get that sorted i think i need to get this warm up regulator replaced and the fuel pressure all sorted out).
My cabriolet is a Mk1 1991 JH engine 1.8 KE-Jet. A replacement unit over here is ridiculously expensive so it's not even worth thinking about, i can't seem to find one online in the UK which has left me with the US. I found this eBay seller who seems to be the only guys who is willing to post international but he is worried about the part not fitting:

can anyone confirm if this will fit? or elaborate on where or how i can find one that will work with my cabriolet. (bearing in mind that i don't want to spend more than $200)

As an afterthought, it's worth checking the filter on the WUR inlet as these can effect operation if slightly blocked.

So it’s definitely the WUR. The problem puzzled me for a while (with my very limited knowledge) as the problem was intermittent. One day I would jump in and the car would start fine, then the next it would be hard to start and sluggish. Anyway I had it checked over by a local mechanic. Who confirmed that the WUR was faulty. I’ve put it off for a while but now the intermittent problems are everyday.. so it's probably time to get it fixed.
However Vinda76 if you’re local I wouldn’t mind getting a second opinion (especially if it’s just a blockage), happy to drive out an meet you sometime always good to meet other vw enthusiast. And redmkIIGTi how good do you think the one in your part bin is? Still think it might be better to get a new or remanufactured one for longevity?

There's an accumulator by the pump that should maintain pressure for strating, they sometimes die. We used to fit fuel pump relays from MK2 Kjet GTIs as they would prime the fuel system before cranking, rather than on shutdown, like the MK1.
Maybe try flicking the key on and off a couple of times before starting?
You can see all these problems with the gauges hooked up.

Try bower power in forestville. He has a shed load of kjet stuff and is a kjet specialist. It's where mine is going once I get some cash after another so called specialist had a mess around with it. It has never run the same as before I dropped off to them. But that's another story!
Thanks Gavin I'll check this out too. The car normally starts first time though it just runs really rough for the first minute then until warmed up it has a slight lack of power when accelerating.
