Mk1 brake balance with cordoba drums

    Hello all,

I have cordoba drums on the rear of my Mk1 4 door and a larger MC/booster. Recently I have had the joy of commuting along a very windy road and noticed that the car is very taily when braking hard for a corner. If I trail brake it can easily oversteer. I suspect that the cause is the rear brakes. What pads are available for the Mk1 that are more "aggressive" such that i can even out the brake balance using front pads? THe car has stock diesel front brakes but I have GTI calipers that i can install.

    Cheers, Matt

yeah, the gti front setup is the go, but unfortunately is becoming hard to find. Cabrio counts as GTI too, although some are not vented, they still bite harder than the standards.

Even with the GTI ones I think the bias is a little bit to the rear... but not much. You could modify a mk3 proportioning valve to stick on to the rear axel pretty easily.

Use the inline prop valves out of a 1400 Ibiza in the rear brake lines.
