Go down and talk to the guys at Camden GTI. They'll have lots of advice and the bits you'll need.

Box is easy enough to get since all Mk3 manual boxes are 020 (not vr6). Be aware that Mk3 020s have 100mm drive flanges so either new drive shafts are needed or the flanges changed to 90mm. Mk2 gti is a common source for the gearbox as well, complete with 90mm drive flanges.

The linkage can be made by simply extending the shifting arm using a welder and some plate. The required pull rod can be bought new for pretty cheap too (vwheritage).

The mount is the difficulty, because the only ones that work are out of a late model cabby or a gti. There is someone on here who modifies 4 speed mounts but I can't remember who...

Easiest way is to keep an eye on the parts for sale section for someone selling the whole kit. They usually go for about 250-300 bucks

Cool, I have a full kit sitting there as I am going 02j, one day will post it in the for sales but need to organise myself! (Probably no good for the OP as it is in Melbourne and it would cost $100 for freight)

    Noooooooooo

Once you start talking to Matt you'll be looking at lower suspension, quicker motor, improved electrics, bigger brakes, steering mods, MK2 dash, brighter lights.

    And a 5 speed.
