Hunting tigers in South Africa? Wouldn't get too many shots off, no tigers there except maybe in the zoo!

Nice looking machine isn't it, are these really in production over there?

    Cheers

Yeah man, how i dream they had these mk1's brought to Australia.

I think Australia imports the mk4 and mk5 from there. But in South Africa they had mk4 2 door 1.8 and 2.0 of production line, which is scwheeet...

I doubt that this mk1 1.8t is off production line, cause the body and interior if of a the new velocity, most probably an ugrade someone did, dont know

I'd love one as a three door, the tailights look awesome, if I was rich I'd import one as parts and put all the good bits into a MK1 3 door.

I was speaking to a guy who worked at Barloworld and he said they have the South African Citi Golf on their books as a car you can buy through them in Australia. Thats crazy! I wish I had some $$s to go and order one. Especially if you can get the 20VT one

Unfortunately from what I have heard thats the one crap thing about these citi's - they're only available in 4 doors. By the way wasn't there a link going around awhile ago with a 4WD R32 one of these in production? Now that would be awesome!

    Yeah

Citigolfs and Velo's are 5door only.
Modding scene is quite big in SA, some even weld up and smooth the rear doors over!
I met this guy here who has a red one, I hopped in it and was all Polo 6N inside

Sorry the Citi golfs are 5 door only and 1.4i and 1.6 only ATM.

That is likely a 1.6i model with a decent heart transplant. The interior is the current production interior which is amazing compared to what there used to be.

2 doors in MK1 was only available 1978-1982.

The Mk1 mod scene is huge in South Africa. Look at the 1 I had 6 years ago, had a 16v 1800 turbo but the 20V 1.8s was starting to hit the scene. These days apparently there are quite a few of them driving around. And I have seen a 20V do less than 12s on the quarter in Johannesburg which is 1800m above sea level ....

Have a look at this site for some parts for MK1's They will ship to Oz and the prices converted to AUD is really cheap. You can get those tallights if you want ....
