    MC/booster relocation..

Hey, so, ive tried to search the web far and wide and havent found the answer to my question. Yeah, ive seen threads on brake bias', deleting the booster and all that sort of stuff.. however, my question, why cant we move the booster to the driver side as per mk3's and delete the utmost ugly and silly mk1 booster and brake linkage setup? is there really more clearance behind the engine in a mk3? This has been unnecessarily pissing me off inside for a while haha and just dont see how there are no options for fitting a booster and mc on the driver side.

Cheer in advance and happy new year fellow dubbers!

The main reason the brake booster is on the passenger side is that's the best position for left hand drive cars which was the biggest market for the MK1's. Normally the carby and manifold get in the way of putting the booster on the right side unless you run a 16v.

My old 1970 Bolwell Nagari had the booster mounted down near the radiator operated by the master cylinder. If it could be done 45 years ago then why not now?

    Cheers

It can be done, your obviously not looking hard enough.

A guy in the UK mounted a Mk2 or 3 firewall into his Mk1 caddy to do what you ask.

I also know Lance at trimsport in UK years ago had a G60 engined MK1 Scirocco which had the booster / MC directly fitted to the firewall on the drivers side. I have a few pics of the car but will need to upload later ( pics dont show fine detail, just that "its there " )

    See.....

    BTW, Scirocco 1 and 2 use A1 platform ( same as MK1 Golf )
    Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...

If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??

    Cheers,
    Grant...

Those are the exact pictures i was trying to find! Is the firewall much different from the mk2/3 to a mk1 caddy??

Dont understand why its not more commonly done?
Found heaps on remote boosters and just deletes in general but nothing on rhs booster/mc. Guess I've got a search impediment haha

The guy from camden GTI with the 1.8t scirroco has his brake booster mounted on the drivers side - he modded it all to fit.

From what ive seen, the mk3 booster and mc is much shorter. Has anyone experimented with a mk4 setup?
