    machining mk1 100mm axels to fit 90mm carriers

    I have heard of a guy machining 100mm axels to fit 90mm hub carriers can this actually be done ???

    you can get flange kits to suit 90mm axles ]
    the flange is for the gearbox side

    Cheers I have a 02m in my mk1 and would like to upgrade the axel size for strentgh thanks for your help anyway

    It can be done. When you see the interference points you can just machine down that section and make sure you radius any steps that are created. However, if your car is on 15mm balljoints, you may want to change to later uprights to allow 17mm balljoints and extenders to be used, if you go low.
