    Lower mid range coilover opinions

I know there have been countless coilover threads and the consensus is if you want cheap low uncomfortable ride go JOM, Hottuning etc, which can be had for as little as $400. KW, Weitecs, H&R seem to be the way to go but they are usually $1200+++

I found these and wanting your expert opinions, they seem to be lower mid range price wise, and have adjustable dampening which as far as I'm aware isn't available on the cheapies

VW MK1 GOLF/JETTA/SCIROCCO HQ ADJUSTABLE COILOVER SUSPENSION KIT NEW | eBay

Landed about $700, wondering if they might be worth the extra $300 over cheapies, or wait another 7 years of saving for the proper stuff lol

Just did some more research and turns out these are made in Germany by JOM and are a new product for the 2012-2013 season. Might be hard to get some opinions

Both KW V1's and weitecs I've got are great!!
Just depends how much you set yourself.
Personally I think they're worth it

save and buy once properly. i bought JOM's they are rubbish (cheap and nasty) - OK for just height adjustment but give you a dam headache and back problems. save up for weitiecs have only heard good things about them and been in a couple MK1's with them which ride great - KW's obviously are great but expensive. like most things in life, quality comes at a cost.

I've also got a set of JOMs that I've just recently purchased which Arnt installed yet, my ride isnt going to be a daily so ive decided the cheapies were the option and really you pay for what you get, if your thinking about a daily ride get something more durable. its entirely up to you

Look at KW ST coilovers. They are the same as the KW except instead of using stainless steel its just galvanised. And they are about $800, 5 year warranty and ride great. Had them on my old mk2

^not true about ST coilovers, they aren't the same as KW.
Design wise, yes they are the same, but they are built in china using cheaper materials. Also tuned slightly differently than weitecs or V1's.
V1's come in stainless and double galvanized housings.
For Australian conditions, there's not real need to have stainless, as we don't have salty roads. Either way if you look after your shocks, they should last.

Ask preeny, he'll tell you all you need to know.

The ST's are big in the US, and they are still probably better than other cheaper coilovers.

Upon further research I stumbled across AP's, they are relatively new and under the KW parent company, share the same design as V1 and Weitec's Hicon GT (cheaper materials) but are also made in Germany.
They are priced lower than the Weitecs, at about half way between cheapies and the Weitecs.

    AP<Weitec<KW

However, oddly, Venom Motorsport in the UK charge more for the Weitecs than they do for the KW V1 for a mk1

They charge £200 for postage to Australia

Upon further reading and to add to confusion, there are 2 different types of KW V1
KW V1 and KW V1 Inox-Line (or S/S), the difference being the 'Inox-Line' have stainless steel bodies and require more of your moneys, the normal V1's are galvanised as the Weitec's are.

So are standard V1's and Weitec's identical now I hear you ask?

No, DPM Performance UK who sell both sets, say both are brilliant but recommend the KW's over the Weitec as they say the internals are still of a better quality
