Thread: A little more progress...

    A little more progress...

I took a couple of days off work to make some progress on the rally Golf. Well not quite as much as I had hoped, but progress none the less.

After my little distraction (weber 45 on the yellow golf) last weekend, I finally got the tank glassed and kevlar-ed and a coat of black POR15.

    And fitted..

You can also see the stone guard (checker-plate) fitted over the tunnel to protect the gear-shift. I will trim this to fit once I get the exhaust (and engine) fitted.

My goal was to get all the work done that needed the car to be on the rotisserie, then get it back on it's wheels Sunday Night.
    Missed it by that much...
    What did get done:
New tabs made up for the rear brake lines to meet the Mk3 disks.

Painted the sills with stone-guard - looks dead sexy no?

And of course - the mandatory Rally Car Air Vent

Looks the part don't it ??

A few more pics from the weekend.
With the rotisserie history, I could prep and paint the front and rear panels. I confess that the front is a little less than perfect, but it is a rally car after all hehe.

    So.. the before shots

    And after...

So that completes the chassis painting. I will leave the doors and guards a bit.

    Next - the brakes!!

The vent was a real case of "Measure twice, cut once". Much easier on the rotisserie (when the roof is a vertical panel right in front of you) but it is still scary when you make that first cut
