finally...
yes thats right finally, i have my own mk 1! and i just happen to be very excited, as you would be, im not going to post pics up cause, it was the one that ausmk1 had for sale in the forsale section, so its a 1976 3dr golf LS, in faded yellow martini ( i think) and and 300 and a lot of kms. plans are at the moment;
-cut out/repair all the rust (which there isn't too much of thankfully)
-mk 3 steelies, fat rubber and "chrome" dress rings
-new alternator
-bog/repair scratchs dents
-new exhaust
-manifold and carby + major engine servies (plugs, belts, seals etc)
-couple new gauges
-suspension
-re-trim the seats
-new steering wheel
and so other small things like the parcel shelf etc
and i think that will do me for now actually..
eventually i want to get a 2L 8v with a decent weber of sorts, cam, extractors, headwork aiming for about 100-110Hp, but that'll be in a year or something at least i think.
but basically, im just stoked at finally having my own mk 1!
cheers

Joined the Mk1 Club...
Thats ace mate... U must be stoked... Sounds like it will get some well deserved mods to her... Cant wait to see her running... Be good to get her looking good for DOVW in November...
Best thing is it went from one member to another, keep it in the family always...
Rock on...

it was looking good today when Jarred and I got stuck into it... replaced the bent front bumper and straightened out the rear. Next should be to get rid of the emissions control stuff that isnt hooked up and tackling the rust!
Good straight little dub to get infected with dub love and Jarred's got me inspired to get back into mine... good on ya mate

Nice work Jarred. Good to see another mk1'er
You'll have to keep us up to date with a progress report & pic's that's for sure. Hopefully meet up on a cruise or DOVW. Should be finished by then?
I would have loved to buy it myself, but am not in a position financially & spaciously either as you would have seen.
To many Golf's, not enough room.
All in all & awesome starting base for sure.
I don't know about you, but I can't wait to have a mk1 for an everydayer again.
