Interesting buy! Looking forward to the finishing product!
Hi all,
Made a trip down to Canberra yesterday to pick up the first of two Mk1 golfs I bought at the right price. The second one is fitted with the 16v 2.0l, once I have picked both up I plan to piece them together to make a tidy Mk1. I arrived home late yesterday afternoon so haven't had any time to start pulling the first apart so here is the first photo of many for this project.
Cheers
Jonesy

MK1, 1976 golfLS, 4 door (SOLD! Will be missed)
MK1, 1980 golfGLD, 4 door (1.8l, 8v, 5 speed)
Yeah they should be a bit of fun. A quick check over tonight showed a small patch of rust in the front passenger pillar. Other than that a little bit of surface rust. I'm hoping it will be the same story when the carpet comes up.
Interior is slowly coming out, a bit of surface rust, no holes yet, only a couple of pretty angry spiders
Bit more progress for a Friday night
Hey bud,
I still have the other Golf. I have someone who is interested in it but told them to hang on for a little while. Now I haven't heard from you since the last we talked.
If you don't want the car I can re-sell it to someone who is interested in it.
Long time no update. I have since sold this car after moving to Tamworth and I'm now back in Dubbo.
On a drive through to Orange I stumbled across a yellow Mk1 parked in the front yard of a house in Stuart Town. Had a quick look around as the owner wasn't home but a quick call to the pub got me the right number. While walking around I spotted a TPR sticker on the side window and called Chris straight away, Turns out it was his old GLD and proceeded to buy it on the spot.
Here a couple of photos, got a few spares with it too that I will be selling shortly including a second motor, head and gearbox.

You had a MK1 with a 2.0 16v and you sold it?
What were you thinking?

Unfortunately I never got to pick up the second vehicle that was fitted with the 16v motor. With missed communication from my side I think it has been sold again.

Was it a silver 4 door?
My 16v came out of a silver MK1 but I don't know the history behind it. Needs another $1000 thrown at the motor before I can put it into my car. That's on top of the money I've spent getting it pulled down and looked at + full gasket set.
I'm wondering if this is the car my 16v is from, do you know anything about it?
