Well done bluerex! Definatey looking the part. Looks very tidy under the bonnet, hope you can keep it nice...
Dont make it too pristine though as you will be worried about having a good go in it.
and why should it be an OR ??Originally Posted by Golf Loon

Par 6 Golf GTI. Coilovers, BBS CH Wheels, APR'd
Caddy van 05/07 (colourcoded) (BRIGHT! orange!) coilovers, Konis 18in. wheels, Oettinger tuned
Having seen the man in action I have no doubt that he will have a very good go in it.
MK1 floG soon to have 16v 2L with cable change gbox - need a 16v turbo manifold
"Fit the gearbox ya bum." Loon - best post ever!

Interestingly of the 15 classic cars entered in the recent Nat Cap rally here in Canberra, only 6 finished the course! So If I can keep the wheels pointing down and the engine running........ who knows I may make top 10 (hehe)

Love the flares and the colour scheme - nice
Re-painting it the same colour?
The plan is to paint it white with the "Golf" logo down the side.
The flares will come after I think I can keep it out of the trees for extended periods of time.
Engine-wise I will be sticking with a 1600 8v on webers (twin 40s). Lots of reasons for this;
P2 class capacity (if I went to 1800, I would be up against the 1800 - 2000cc P3 cars)
Injection would have to be of the original type (K jet) - too much like hard work
Webers sound good!
The engine (head & block) needs to have been either sold here or homologated by VW with the FAI (That is how Matthias can run a 16v head on his green machine)

I absolutely agree that twin 40's on a 1600 work very well.
I ran just that set up in the past - was more than a match for 1770 Lancers in a straight drag, and gave (warm) 2L Escorts a serious run for their money
And oh yeah they sound good all right, epecially with a nice hot cam...
Go for it.
BTW, Let me know if you could use some nice meaty aluminium front and rear suspension/sump guards for a MkI - I've got a pair kicking around the garage that came off the other car...
Looking awesome, Charles. Give me a call sometime. Rumour has it, you now own the old yellow I stripped and rebuilt (on a budget). I saw it the other day. Glad to see it still going strong.
Euro look 2... Mk2 love!
