I had the same problem, odd sparks on different cylinders, hard to start, rough idle, went ok when driving.

I think the actual dizzy was stuffed, was chucking the timing waaaay out.

I put a points Dizzy in, turned key, started first time. and every other time after that

ok, just thought i'd throw it out there - have you actually tried changing plugs and leads?

Car i just bought wouldnt start. Showed intermittent signs of life while cranking sometmes but basically it wouldnt start at all. changed coild - fired more but still not start. changed dizzy - better still, but no run. changed leads... still better but not running. changed plugs - runs!

all of the components i changed were sub-standard anyway.... all needed changing. but bedamned i reckon the plugs i pulled out of the engine didnt look bad, they just didnt work properly.

So it turns out the hall sender is stuffed. Should have a brand new dissy ready in a week or so. Fingers crossed this resolves the starting issues. Will be nice to have the old dear running reliably.

Truth be told brand new electronic parts are the way to go with kjet. All the old stuff is ancient and has different issues.

New plugs wouldn`t cost much either and couldnt hurt.

Yeah, got some of those too. Just waiting on the new dissy which should be here late next week (it's been a bit delayed, sadly).
