    Hybrid Mk1?

I wonder if this would fit in a Mk1 golf?
A golf Mk1 is about half the weight of the donor car

umm.... what about batteries (yes, i did read the listing, but it does say "half cut".)

i'm sure the prius' weight has a lot to do with it carrying a load of batteries.

you would still get better fuel milage if you swapped in a little polo 1.4TDi (euro version of a few years back)... in that car it gets about 4.3l/100km... not to mention faster!

however - there is a guy in the US that converted his mk1 diesel to hybrid - towed a trailer with batteries onboard! it was mainly an experiment, and i think he said his milage was about the same as with the normal diesel engine (since he was towing a trailer load of batt's the whole time)

Dude, don't get yourself into that.

The prius' engines are crap. They get faults in them that the dealers can't diagnose, so they replace the entire engine and gearbox assembly.

Put a 2.0L TDI in a Mk1. then you'll get better fuel economy than a prius and it won't be a heavy heap of sh*t.

    That'd be cool.

    Thats ok
I got the prius because the lease per month is less than the fuel bill per month of the Discovery.
I was spending so much on fuel that I had to stop work on the Mk1!
There are a few cars i would like to own in my life and with the fuel burn of the Prius maybe I will have a chance of doing that.
    Eventually when I finish the MK1 I wouldnt mind a ratted 1958 - 1960 Fin car
just because they are so stupidly extreme.
Plus imagine how a Mk1 and a rat Finned car would lokk parked next to each other.

Actually I meant to thank you for the tip in your resto thread on the sump baffle. I bought one a few months back and it seems like a nice bit of kit
