How do you like your MkI?

Ok, I was prompted by the photos from the Nats to pose this question -
whats the consensus on early chrome bumpers vs late model plastic bumpers vs the full-on (after market) body kit look?

Some folks seem keen on chrome bumpers, while others prefer the later plastic ones... I guess it depends upon whether you're into the retro
    look I guess
I've got one of each, but like the plastic bumpers...

Dunno about the full bodykit look (with integral bumper/spoiler)

Definately Plastic, chrome looks so 70s.

I like the big bumper look on a Mk1.

i like clean looking cars, not one for body kits, especially on a mk1. chrome or plastic both look awesome in there own applications.

Ive got plastic and don't mind it but prefer the sexy chrome ones, depends on how youve done your golf. Cliper kits is the only body kit that i have seen that looks good on a mk1.

    My opinion!

The Mk1 has such a classic shape, so it is best to keep the styling simple (less is best). Early chrome/carbon bumpers look great on the early (small rear light) Mk1s and the plastic bumpers are best left for the later GTIs.

Colour coded clipper style/big bumper kits are a bit 10 years ago for me…..YUK! I’m not a fan of colour coded plastic bumpers either. Regardless of the choice of bumpers, I still believe that wheel/tyre choice is the most important factor! Obviously, coilovers are a must

Anything can be tasteful if it doesn't have a bodykit and/or a stupid colour scheme

Simple, clean and tidy is the way to go I think

I like OE spec cars no matter what year

So chrome and plastic are equal in my book
