Hey i finally have my golf in the drive looked under the bonnet she is a 5/76 how can i identify what engine i have as nothing is on the compliance plate is there a chart i can source better still is there a Vizard type book for the Golf?

If it's the original engine it will be FP engine code. Looks like the colour is Martini Olive. It may be early enough to have a light in the glove box. My daughters car is 2/76 and it does not have the lining material on the inside of the C pillar and has the coolant overflow tank which was dropped for a while then re introduced later. Australian built swallowtail I believe. The original coil looks to have been replaced as has the oil filler cap. Cheers Geoff Hale
It is a sunroof, buggered if i can figure out how to work it if anyone has ideas let me in on it lolz more pics tomorrow, wargamming is on the back burner and its a day on the golf
very bad day peoples! i had a "man in the know" come look at her today and his prognosis was not good i have a lot of work to do she needs to be totally striped and then rust repair/welding etc before she gets a re-paint a lot of work and the wifes not happy lolz so i now have to find an oxymoron a cheap welder/repairer any recommendations?
thats not good news mate, where was the majority of the rust?
