    Hennie's Mk1

Well after a lot of looking around I finally settled on the Mk1 GLS I had my eye on for quite a while. I bought it locally from Dom (Antdragonist) who had it for sale in the classifieds section for quite a while. It's an awesome first car and I've got some pretty cool plans for it. Will also hopefully be racing it down at the local track in the near future and will see how things go from there. Just been cleaning it over the past few days since i got so thought I may as well chuck up some pics of how she looks this arvo.

Anyway, I'm very proud! Puts a grin on my face everytime I set eyes on the beast!

    Here are some pics.

(Not a GTI obviously, just a GTI badge)

    Cheers, Hennie.

Cheers guys, I do feel privileged every time I go for a drive!

As for plans, most probably going for a race look (I have an obsession with race car interior mainly for practicality but also the sheer rawness of it). Mechanically this car has had a fair bit of work done to it and is fine for me for the moment, I do however have some plans for the engine which will most probably happen later on. Back to interior/exterior work: Luckily the previous owner has already stripped out the carpet and removed the sound deadener which saves a lot of hassle. Fully stripped, caged interior with bucket seats and a respray in and out is the main plan. This is very much a work in progress and all these ideas won't be happening at once, studying this year so will have to try and find a happy median between work and play.

At the moment I will just be cleaning the car and getting the surface rust under control.

Hennie, you have a great car there matey i have fond memories of it lol,

I really like the future plans you have for it, and the style your going for. Its the exact same thing I would do if I had a mk1 golf. Plenty of inspiriation out there. At least it will go as fast as it looks lol, it does haul pretty well. Dom and I never really had a race when I had the VR6 but there was a few times in town that made me realise just how quick a mk1 with a 2E really is.

enjoy it mate . So glad its staying in Tas!

Well you might see me around a bit mate as I think I'm pretty much around the corner from you - I remember seeing your Swallowtail outside your house when it was for sale when I first became interested in Mk1s.

Thanks for the comments guys and yeah, the 2E is a great engine to have in a mk1, very powerful and sounds beautiful!!
