    Help Please

Does any one know the legal requirements for NSW for shaving the engine bay
Like removing the metal that's near the heater box
I have attached a photo of the part I am talking about
    Thanks for the help

If your worried about any legal requirements, just leave it in. If you remove it, you expose the heater fan to your toxic engine bay fumes, which will then make it into your face.. so youll wanna remove the heater fan. If your remove that, youll have to find another way to heat the cabin, or other wise run no heater like me. To me, the clean bay way more important than my own comfort but you might think otherwise

Rego won't let you drive a car without a heater so if you remove the raintray you'll need to seal all the holes between the engine bay and the cabin and fit an electric heater somewhere under the dash so it still demists the windscreen.

Heaters are overrated, was worried myself going into winter without one, turns out its perfectly fine! I actually feel warmer and more comfy in the mk1 than i ever did on a cold winters night in the mk5, truth be told.

You need it to defrost the screen though
in the race car I use 2 12 v hair driers connected to the ducts, but there is nothing else behind the dash (this is in a Telstar) They are on all the time with a separate switch for power, that is I do not use the hairdrier switch because you cant get to it

My plan was to just run the heater core with a large computer fan blowing warm air inside the car and closing off the heater hole in the bay. Perhaps that can work for you?

I second this. My mk1 is rather toasty with no heater. I WAS running 2x 12v hairdryers for windscreen demisting but i found an e30 or even better, an e36 convertable rear demister fan. It blows hotter and a much large volume of air than the hairdryers. And 100000x quieter haha
