A big leak in it will stop it idling. The diaphragm has probably split inside or you have damaged a hose or non return valve.

Pull the vac hose and stick your thumb over the end and see how it runs then.

Yup, probably a big leak on the pipe from the booster to the manifold.

Bleeding the brakes wont fix a running fault. I suspect you have disturbed something while fitting the booster mate.

Matt will chime in cos I don't know much about carby Golfs. You have an air leak that needs finding. If it's not the vac pipe from the manifold to the booster then check all the other pipework off the carb and inlet manifold.

Bumped the power wire off the carby?? Or the earth wire mate.

    ^^^^ Both good suggestions.

There could also be a plug on the other side of the manifold that should be blocked off.

Live wire to the overrun valve is the most likely.

Hmmm, I wonder if you have fixed your problem.
